Why did you start the Traineeship?
My main reason was a need to change career. Having worked in many fields i knew i wanted to go into IT and this kicked started that process. This turned out to be a wise choice and one i do not regret as it made me work hard and eventually reach my goal of changing career.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
The support is really great, knowing that you can contact your tutor who was always prompt on response. I also like the in-depth course which help me gain valuable knowledge that i could use in the real world. The practical livelab helped put it into practice.
What's your current role like?
I currently work as a Systems Engineer. I am responsible for resolving a range of customer issues which can include anything from deploying racks to configuring servers to running and terminating network cables. I am also involved with installing and modifying data floor equipment, monitoring networks and servers and managing backups. This is invaluable experience which is transferable and I can utilise in other work place and environments.
