Why did you start the Traineeship?
I was at the end of my contract in car manufacturing and I was looking to future proof my job opportunities. I have decided to move to an IT business and after some research I have discovered that holding one of the CompTIA certificates is a good way to start a career in IT. Then I have researched for training / course providers and ITcareerswitch was one of the most attractive traineeships as they also offered a job search service.
What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?
I enjoyed the most, that I could learn about various aspects of the IT world, which then I could practice in handy livelabs and that I could do it all at my own pace. So when I had plenty of time I could “soak” a lot of the material in, but when I was busy with my life or work I could “abandon” it for a few weeks and take it up again when I was ready.
What's your current role like?
I am currently working as a 1st line technician on site, which requires me to deal with various hardware and software issues. It is a position that allows me to communicate with customers face to face and also in other forms of communication. My employer has provided me with a job specific training which was mostly in line with what the traineeship taught me. I enjoy my new job a lot.
