Course: IT Technician Traineeship
Placement Date: February 2020
Job Before: Community Support Worker
Job Now: IT Support Engineer @ Le Pain Quotidien

Why did you start the Traineeship?

I started the traineeship because i needed a change of career as i had worked 10 years doing 12 hour shifts as a carer/support worker without significant progression, no free weekends or great pay. This traineeship offered me affordable training, job guarantee and money back if i do not get a job compared to other training companies who charge 3 times more for the same package with no job guarantee and no refund!

What did you enjoy most about the Traineeship?

I loved the fact that i could study at my own pace, study the latest materials for the latest exams, be supported by the team and encouraged to pass the internal tests and the compTIA A+ official exams. The job expert at ITCareerSwitch gave me ideas on how to make my LinkedIn profile stand out, gave me interview tips, referred me to their partners for interviews although i ultimately went with my current role as it suited my needs more.

What's your current role like?

I work as a 1st Line Support Engineer with Le Pain Quotidien in London and i must say it is satisfying as it is challenging because i can use my acquired knowledge from the traineeship as well as learn new skills to support office staff as well as hundreds of international chain of stores. Most importantly i have the opportunity to progress and adequate support and time to become a better IT engineer everyday. Lastly, i only work 9-5 now with almost twice the salary i was earning in my former career, what’s not to like!
